CEO Update: The Reconquista Begins

After the defense of VFK and the humiliating flight of our enemies from Deklein, we have entered a new phase of the War for Winter – the Reconquista. It falls to us to clear away the debris left behind by the fall of the NC and the ensuing power vacuum, a wave of foolish badposting that has left, near-abandoned, a host of hostile towers and sov structures from Cloud Ring to the gates of Deklein – where that wave broke and shattered against our combined righteous might.
It would be too simple to dismiss the current delicate situation as ‘mere cleanup’. We cannot allow ourselves a sense of smug validation at our present good fortune, because the security of our empire still rests on a knife’s edge. We have fought, we have defended, and for now we have met success. Yet we must dislodge our foe’s infrastructure and recapture that which was ours with diligence and a steady pace, rather than lapsing into indolence and false security.
The Reconquista will proceed deliberately. Headshots and Helicopter Dicks only work when your foe is pinned and helpless; our enemies will rally and try to interfere with us should we attempt to take shortcuts by racking up too many timers each night. Instead we will maintain our stamina, do a bit of work every night, and gradually purge the interlopers.
Birth of a Doctrine
The creation of the Welpfleet had an immediate impact on our foes. Where previously they had operated with relative impunity in insultingly small groups of supercapitals in Fade and Pure Blind, the abrupt coalescence of 250 Hurricanes in VFK has repeatedly seen our foes log off in pants-shitting terror rather than face a horde of autocannon-packing goons with an axe to grind.
In a way, the Welpfleet has been a victim of its own success. By now, Welpfleets have been used to murder the odd subcap fleet and smash small groups of carriers, but they have inspired such fear that hostile supercaps have almost vanished from our theater of operations. Shortly after the doctrine was announced, Raiden, NCdot and Ev0ke all found something else much more interesting to do in the south, and PL’s ops tempo has flatlined.
However, do not despair. The purpose of Welpfleet is not merely to murder overly smug supercap k/d worshippers, but also to be a primary homeland defense tool and a training vehicle for young leaders. Aspiring FCs are encouraged to take small Welpfleet groups out (packing ECM drones in the ‘canes) and ram them into things. They are cheap, vicious, durable and forgiving.
We do not anticipate a non-Welpfleet future. When the doctrine was devised, most of our calculations assumed 100 ‘canes as a best case scenario. In practice, our formups have often broken 200, an absolutely scandalous amount of disposable dps. Importers and producers are encouraged to continue providing Hurricanes with the doctrine fit indefinitely.
Enemies Avidly Attacking Elsewhere
Before the Battle of VFK, our various foes circled us in a vast coalition of blue-hating hypocrites. Eternly rebuked, they have scattered to the four winds – yet, comically, they have maintained their blue lists with one another. Raiden, Ev0ke and NCdot have taken an interest in Delve, or Providence, or the Awagon vs DRF conflict. Their actions aren’t particularly consistent or relevant; some days they are far away, other days they are still derping around Venal. PL remains in the area, basing out of ROIR in Pure Blind, forlornly awaiting a contract from Death to give them an excuse to leave the area. NCdot’s supercapitals remain parked in UMI, perhaps to guard their Venal holdings against a phantom GSF assault which isn’t likely to occur.
So while our enemies have mostly decided that They Don’t Want Some, due to the locations of their supercaps, the anti-coalition coalition could mass together rapidly if we grow incautious and try to reinforce 30 towers in one night.
The Foreverwon’t
The current Grand excuse to get as far away from Deklein as possible is the DRF vs AAA conflict, which also stars a number of former NC alliances looking to get revenge against White Noise et al. Apparently this is a complex and exciting topic (it’s not). We don’t give a fuck at any level. We have grim work at home, and unlike the rest of nullsec involved in that slapfight, we have not forgotten that winter is coming.
Fade’s Ascension
Some have questioned my decision to grant Fade to Fatal Ascension. Their participation numbers in VFK were astounding, it’s true – but they are young and have never held a region before. Yet it is increasingly obvious that the choice was a wise one. Despite the expected hiccups that come from adapting from holding pockets to owning an entire region (the odd boofed pos timer or whatever), FA under Zagdul have shown incredible drive in their fight to secure their territory.
It is now undeniable how effective Zagdul’s idea of using torp bombers to chew through Ev0ke’s downtime timers has been. While our foes mocked FA on the forums for daring to suggest a strategic use for bombers, their pilots have shot down hordes of SBUs and iHubs across Fade in the past two weeks. Apparently the counter to a cumbersome supercapital fleet at 12:00 to 15:00 EVE is 40 bomber pilots with cloaks, a hold full of ammo and a grudge. Hats off to them, and any goons who joined in their regular Moon Time bomber wings.
Recapturing what is (Now) Ours – Pure Blind
In the past, Pure Blind was a mishmash of territory held by various NC alliances. A quick glance at the history of that blighted region will show that every major incursion of the North was based out of Pure Blind. GSF has decided that the security of Pure Blind is the security of Deklein. We are unwilling to repeat the mistakes of the NC. As a result, we will be taking a controlling interest in the sovereignty of that region, while simultaneously granting full rights to the territory of those remaining residents – LAWN, FCON and SMA.
Within the past two weeks we have discussed this new order with FCON, SMA and LAWN. While each of these entities are already massively enriched compared to the NC’s regime, they cannot hold or maintain the region on their own. Pure Blind is absolutely littered with Ev0ke and PL towers. It is up to us to burn them. The vast majority of the moons in the interstitial regions will be going to GSF or TEST; the FCON, LAWN and SMA pockets are their own.
The Technetium party cannot last forever, and we cannot trust CCP to rebalance moons with any kind of competence – just look at what happened during the dys/prom nerf. To maintain reimbursements and our ~soviet ideological purity~, we must save for whatever dark and unpredictable times are ahead – and that means sieging Pure Blind.
Cloud Ring, Too
Yeah, we have to kick the Krauts out of Cloud Ring, as well. Again. vOv
Reactive Reinforcement
Dust off your Dreads. We’re going to be posting ‘kill’ ops in sticky threads and tossing them in the op ticker like in the old, pre-reactive era. However, reinforcement ops will remain reactive/unannounced. Expect nightly (us-tz) siegework at erratic times during the next week or two.
New Hires: Hralti and Pmchem
I’ve hired Hralti Smirks to the directorate as an agent handler for the GIA. If you’re interested in working as an agent, hut up Hralti, Endie or Tamir Lenk (or all three!). With Hralti on the team, we now have much better timezone coverege for handlers, whuch means that you cann pipe intel even at insomniac hours and/or get your hand held.
Meanwhile, Pmchem has joined us as a GARPA guy. He’s doing… things, almost all of which are classified – the usual GARPA story. There’s a recruitment post up if you think you have what it takes.
Membercorp Purging
It has been far too long since I executed a membercorp, and I fear my post-VFK largesse towards our coalition partners might be misinterpreted by some within the alliance is a sign of laxity. As most of you know by now, all I care about un a membercorp is that they provide the alliance with pilots in the right ships on the right ops during that corp’s timezone. I don’t care about small gang pvp, I don’t care about k/d ratios, and I certainly don’t give a fuck about industry – all that matters is having a satisfactory number of the correct ships on the line during strategic ops. We have reams of data about who was on the line in VFK when it mattered most across all timezones, and we’re going to use that data accordingly.
